The birth of the bandwidth Mafia - Researchers aim to make Internet bandwidth a global currency

Computer scientists are using a novel peer-to-peer video sharing application to explore a next-generation model for safe and legal electronic commerce that uses Internet bandwidth as a global currency. The application (available for free download) is an enhanced version of a program called Tribler.read more | digg story
I like the way social networking has taken off on the internet. For any social networking site, the revenue generated has mostly been due to advertisements based on traffic, or payment for services rendered. [Buying things on the internet.] Most of us have used peer-to-peer generally for downloading movies, songs, files, etc. [No, I am not broaching any kind of legalities here..] Sometimes they are slow, and sometimes fast. If you pay and opt-in into the system, you have better storage capacities, and participation. Most ISPs charge you on the data traffic that you have used. Here are the folks at Harvard, taking a new look at the way we do business. The way I see it, the implications are huge, and powerful. As in any business strategy, the early birds get the worm. Here's my breakdown of whats going on... [geeks and gearheads, please ...

Happy Indian Independence

Indian Flag

Wishing all my brothers and sisters spattered across the globe and at India, as well as friends of Indians, a Happy 60th Independence Day.  When we look back, its hard to think that it has been only sixty years, since the Independence.  Much has happened, some good, some bad.  Its hard to understand, but without our previous generations fighting for independence, I would not even be blogging about it.  So here's to independence, the software revolution, and personal freedom, without which I would not be in Omaha Nebraska.

The one topic that concerns most Non Resident Indians is the exorbitant land rates at India and the absence of basic facilities [Food, water, homes, roads, public facilities [toilets, cooling centers, water spots]].  I know the urban crowd would like me to include malls, and movie theatres as basic, but that seems to be the crux of the matter.  The case of a blinded few deciding what's good or needed for the country.  The trick Dr. Manmohan, is to stick with what works and not aim for a mess in the country in the name of globalization.  Russia is still reeling with the

Writers Challenge

I'm bored and I need some inspiration so I'm throwing out a challenge. I want to see 200 words or less,  on the best moment of your day. Tell it any way you want, first person, third person, from the point of view of a tree, I don't care. Just show me the best moment of your day.

This was the challenge thrown to our writers group, by Sandra Brennan.  here is my response, which I dont mind sharing.

Book of MitiI am so excited. After playing my video game, and getting busted by the cops in that one [dont I just love it when I do! ], I ran excitedly to tell my mom about the incident. Oh. Oh. bad logic.... She had that self righteous look. Lecture time. While she ranted in her usual way, something about habit forming and not driving correctly, [NLP whatever that is.. I am getting good at this, pretending to listen and pickin up important words...], I started to think about what to do next. Now for the hard work. "Mom does your hand pain"? NO. Why? I get closer to her, give her

MITI’S LITTLE WORLD

A special thanks to my new friend Agantuk, who is a linguist from India, and I met online. We were exchanging poems that we both like, and then he asked me whether I write poems myself. It has been a very long time, since I wrote poems of any kind. So I actually sat in one place, came out with this poem and sent it to him. He liked it. So now having gained some confidence, I am publishing the same. :)
